Why I’m doing this blog?
During
my university study I was already thinking of how to present certain topics of the
exciting world of polymer engineering and science in a more fascinating way.
Back then, blogs were not yet a thing. This changed over the years. Now, my
mission is to present you on a monthly basis current topics of the world ‘made
of plastic’ combined with scientific facts and tools to use in your daily
engineering & corporate life. Apart of this, another focus is on
leadership. My army officer training in the Austrian Armed Forces provided me a
good background as well as experiences for presenting topics in the area of
leadership for daily life and business.
A bit of history…
A bit of history…
I started this blog when I was a Ph.D. candidate at JKU Linz, Austria at the
Institute of Polymer Injection Moulding and Process Automation.
The topic of my research was injection moulding of drug delivery systems. In June 2015, I received my Ph.D. degree. Since July 2015, I am active in plastics industry and worked in different roles (f.e. at SABIC as a Scientist in the Global
Application Technology team in the Netherlands). From 2017 till 2022 I focused on developing business opportunities in Automotive for Solvay Specialty Polymers, which offers with over 1,500 products the widest range of specialty polymers in the world.
Currently, I work at PlastFormance. Here, my main focus is supporting the automotive, LED and E/E industry to select the optimal highly filled compound for applications which need high thermal conductivity or electrical conductivity, as well as other properties such as radiation shielding.
Enjoy!
